it's on (again)

Lack of better ideas + summer writing institute = another attempt at the Garfield book. I like the idea of writing it from Guiteau's P.O.V. as he awaits his execution, reflecting on his life and ideas and whatnot.

Interestingly, Guiteau's trial was one of the major tests of insanity as a criminal defense in the 19th century. I'll have to consult with some lawyers and law student friends on this stuff.

This could be fun.

Uthando

Sandra Day O'Connor's retiring and will most likely be replaced by someone slightly to the right of Ghengis Khan, I'm not going to the fireworks tonight, and I'm ambivalent about going to the gym this morning. Fortunately, I have a bunch of songs by the Soul Brothers to help me through the day.

Check out "Uthando", which is typical Soul Brothers township jive. They sing in Zulu over some insane slidy bass line and driving percussion, topped off with beautiful guitars and keys. Put on your dance pants and boogie to this, kids.
